We cannot control when, where, or how disasters strike. But we can control how prepared we are to deal with a disaster.
During a pandemic, it is important to have an emergency kit or bug-out bag ready. What should you include in the kit?
Well the answer depends on several things, including how far you are travelling, social distancing laws and your personal medical condition, but at minimum, you should consider the following items.
1. Personal Hygiene & Safety
- Hand sanitizer
- Cleansing wipes
- Disposable gloves
- Masks
- First aid kit
- Prescriptions
- Copies of important documents, medical and health records
2. Water
- Water – at least 1 liter per day
3. Food
- Energy bars, lollies and chocolates
4. Communication
- Mobile phone
- Power bank
5. Tools & Miscellaneous
- A good multi-tool
- Plastic bags
- List of emergency contacts
- Emergency cash
