There are around 55,800 charities operating in Australia and whilst they employ around 10% of the workforce, their work has a positive impact on millions of lives, enriches our culture and our environment.

Australian charities must meet the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission’s (ACNC) Governance Standards to be registered and remain registered with the ACNC. These ACNC Governance Standards are a set of core, minimum standards that deal with how charities are run (including their processes, activities and relationships). They require charities to remain charitable, operate lawfully, and be run in an accountable and responsible way.
